Give the gift of service

Your support for City Year matters now more than ever.

Every 26 seconds a student gives up on school in America with 2,300 students dropping out of San Jose schools every year.  The service of the 55 City Year corps members in San Jose/Silicon Valley and the 1,750 corps members across America puts national service to work addressing that crisis.

City Year corps members make a difference in the lives of children everyday in schools serving as tutors, mentors and role models.

A gift from you this year can make it possible for City Year San Jose/Silicon Valley corps members to serve more than 95,000 hours as tutors, mentors, role models and leaders of after-school programs to help students and schools succeed.

Through our blog, you have gotten to know many of our Corps Members, Senior Corps Members, alumni and partners. City Year San Jose/Silicon Valley has been serving nonstop to ensure that San Jose is better than when we started.

Halfway through our program year, City Year corps members are already having a powerful impact on student success. So far in the 2010-2011 program year:

  • 2,700 students receive access to positive mentors and role models
  • 475 students receive 1:1 Literacy or Math tutoring every day
  • 708 students attend City Year’s after-school program, which includes homework completion centers, boys and girls clubs, and service-learning programs
  • 300 students received access to tuition-free City Year Summer School

And our work doesn’t end there.

Please consider a gift today to help Silicon Valley students stay on track – and get back on track – to graduation and life success.  Thank you in advance for your generous gift.

Donate to City Year Now Please designate San Jose/Silicon Valley as the recipient of your gift.
